"Recently, whenever I go to change the desktop background in the home computer (with Windows 8), the system informs me that this feature has been disabled. What's going on? Can you explain this phenomenon as detailed as possible?"
Probably, the situation described in the above question is shown in the following picture. If this is the case, the setting of changing desktop background has been prevented in the computer. And the article will illustrate how this phenomenon occurs step by step.
Video guide on how to prevent changing desktop background in Windows 8:
Step 1: Open the Local Group Policy Editor.
Sub-step 1: Right-click the bottom left corner on the screen to open the Quick Access Menu and select Command Prompt on it.
Sub-step 2: Type gpedit.msc in the Command Prompt window, and press Enter.
Step 2: Enable the setting of Prevent changing desktop background.
Sub-step 1: Find the setting by following User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Control Panel/Personalization/Prevent changing desktop background, and double-click it.
Sub-step 2: After entering the window of Prevent changing desktop background, choose Enabled and click OK to enable the setting.
As described above, only with two steps, the feature to change desktop background is prevented (or disabled) in the Windows 8 computer.
