Google Docs has proven to be a wonderful alternative to Microsoft Word, and many offices and individuals around the world have moved to this new format. If you need to add a PDF supporting file in the same document. Google can help you insert a PDF in a doc file. You can add the PDF to Google Drive and include a link in your document with an optional small icon. Alternatively, you can display the PDF as an image in your document.
In this article, I will guide you step by step on how to insert a PDF into a Google Doc. Let's see how this can be achieved in a few steps.
By uploading your PDF to Google Drive, you can grab its link and easily insert it into your Google Docs. The benefit of this option is that you can display the link or an icon, allowing you to keep your document nice and neat.
Step 1: Access to your Google Drive and sign in your Google account. Then, click the New button on the top left and select File upload.
Step 2: In the pop-up window, select the PDF document you want to insert into Google Docs, and click Open. When you see your PDF file appear in My Drive or Recent, right-click and select Get link.
Step 3: Click Copy link to place the link on your clipboard, then click Done to close the pop-up window.
Note: You can set reading permissions by clicking the Settings button in the upper right corner. Depending on who you expect to read your file, you can adjust who can open your links.
Step 4: Proceed to your document in Google Docs and insert the link. Once the PDF is pasted, you will be able to see an icon that shows the name of the PDF.
If you want to display a PDF in your document instead of a link. Since you can't insert the PDF into Google Docs directly, you need to convert the PDF to images and then insert the image in Google Docs. There are many ways to convert PDF to image. You can use an online converter like CloudConvert, here are the steps to use it.
Step 1: Access to CloudConvert website. Click Select File to choose the location of the PDF file and upload it.
Step 2: You can convert this PDF file to JPG or PDG format, or other image formats, and then click the Convert button.
Step 3: When the conversion process is complete, click Download to get your file. When the conversion process is complete, click Download to get your file. This is a ZIP file where each page of the PDF is a separate image. Please unzip the downloaded file to get JPG or PNG images so you can insert them in Google Docs.
Step 4: After converting your PDF to an image, you can simply insert it into Google Docs like any other image. Similarly, if you want to include the entire PDF, you will need to insert the corresponding image for each page. Go back to your Google Docs. Then select Insert > Image and choose Upload from Computer or Drive depending on where you saved the image.
Step 5: After inserting an image, you can resize, edit, format, or lock it in place. You can also adjust the image and surrounding text as needed.
