Mac: Unlock BitLocker Drive with/without Password or Recovery Key

Generally, it's easy to open a USB drive in a computer, including the Mac. However, when you connect the drive encrypted with BitLocker to your Mac and want to access it, the operation will be stopped as soon as you insert the drive into your Mac. This is because Mac doesn't support BitLocker. Fortunately, the BitLocker drive still can be opened on Mac with the help of the tool. And here are detailed steps to unlock a BitLocker drive with or without password and recovery key on Mac.

Step 1: Install iSunshare BitLocker Genius on your Mac after downloading it.

Step 2: Plug the BitLocker drive into your Mac and tap Ignore option to exit the small box which is popped out to remind you the unreadable drive.

Step 3: Run the software. Then click your BitLocker drive in its interface and choose Unlock option.

Step 4: After clicking Unlock button, a small window with two decryption paths will be popped out and it's time for you to choose to unlock the BitLocker drive with password or recovery key. After that, select Mount button of the window.

Step 5: Once the BitLocker drive is unlocked successfully, its icon will be shown on your Mac desktop. You can access it to use now.

Open BitLocker Drive without Password and Recovery Key on Mac

If you want to open the BitLocker drive to use on your Mac, but you forget the BitLocker password and lost the recovery key, you can try this effective way. However, please note that this way will delete the data in your BitLocker drive and remove BitLocker from the BitLocker drive.

Step 1: Connect the BitLocker drive to your Mac. Then click Ignore option in the small box which is written with "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer".

Step 2: Access Disk Utility tool and click Erase button after choosing the BitLocker drive icon in the left pane.

Step 3: Name the BitLocker drive or not, select MS-DOS(FAT) for Format option and choose Master Boot Record in the drop-down menu of Scheme. Then tap Erase to start the operation.

Note: The data in the BitLocker drive will lose after formatting.

Step 4: When the operation is completed, you can open the BitLocker drive with double clicks and use it now.
