By default, the notification sounds are on in the computer. In case you may want to turn them off because of personal reasons, it is indispensable for you to learn about how to do that. And for your information, this text will particularly introduces two methods to turn notification sounds on or off in Windows 8 computer.
Method 1: Turn on or off notification sounds in PC settings.
Step 1: Go to the Search bar by Windows+F, type notification sound in the blank box, choose Settings and tap Turn notification sounds on or off in the results.
Step 2: In PC settings, open Notifications and tap the switch under the "Play notification sounds" setting.
Tip: As shown in the following screen shot, there is a small slider on the switch, so you can also move it to the right to turn on notification sounds, or move it to the left to turn them off.
Method 2: Turn on or off notification sounds in Control Panel.
Step 1: Enter the Control Panel.
Step 2: Input sound in the top-right search box and click Sound in the results.
Step 3: As the Sound window turns up, open Sounds and choose Notification in the Program Events.
Step 4: Tap the sound bar under Sounds, and select None in the list to turn off notification sounds.
Furthermore, to turn them on, tap the sound bar and choose another sound type in the list.
Step 5: Click OK to confirm the change.
