By default, when you use the mouse pointer to point at any folder or desktop item in your computer, the description to it will pop up, as shown in the screen shot below. Nonetheless, sometimes, you may find that in another computer, the description disappears without warning. Taking Windows 8 computer for example, this article will explain how these two opposite situations happen.

Step 1: Open Folder Options.
Open any folder, click View on the Menu Bar and select Options in the pop-up Ribbon Interface.
Step 2: Change related setting in the settings of View.
In View settings, find and click the selected small box before Show pop-up description for folder and desktop items to deselect it, and tap OK.
Step 1: Go to Folder Options through the method illustrated above.
Step 2: Modify corresponding setting in View settings through one of the following two methods.
Method 1: After entering View settings, check the box before Show pop-up description for folder and desktop items and then click OK.
Method 2: In the Folder Options window, access View settings, click Restore Defaults button and tap OK.
Tips: The second way is applied when other settings in the View settings haven't been changed.
