How to Restart, Sleep, Shut Down and Sign Out on Windows 8/8.1

Two ways to restart, sleep, shut down and sign out on Windows 8/8.1 computer:

Method 1: Make these operations in the Shut Down Windows.

Step 1: Enter Desktop.

On the Start Menu, click Desktop icon to enter the desktop of Windows 8, as the following picture shows.

Step 2: Open Shut Down Windows.

You can press the composite key of Alt+F4 to open the Shut Down Windows.

Step 3: Select Restart, Sleep, Shut down or Sign out.

Click the pull-down arrow in the Shut Down Windows and choose Restart, Sleep, Shut down or Sign out in the list. Please look at the photo below.

Step 4: Click OK to finish the selected operation.

Method 2: Realize these fundamental operations in the Settings of Charms Menu.

Step 1: Open Charms Menu and select Settings.

Press the composite key of WIN key+C to open the Charms Menu and choose Settings in it, as shown in the following screen shot.

Tips: WIN key is the key with windows logo that locates between Ctrl key and Alt key.

Step 2: Select Power in Settings.

Step 3: Click Sleep, Restart or Shut down in the Power setting. Please refer to the screen shot below.
