Many people hope to finish most things with the least amount of time, which is also true when it comes to opening programs in their computers. And it seems that no other methods are faster than opening an app via its shortcut. Thus, this article mainly shows you how to create a Windows Defender shortcut on the desktop in Windows 8 computer.

Step 1: On the desktop, right-click any blank area, select New in the context menu and choose Shortcut to begin creating the shortcut.
Step 2: Input the following location information of Windows Defender and tap Next to continue.
"C:\Program Files\Windows Defender\MSASCui.exe" (with or without double quotation marks)
Tips:
1. You can also copy the above information and paste it in the box.
2. If you neither want to enter the program's location info, nor would like to copy and paste it, you can locate the app according to the following instruction.
Click the Browse button in the Create Shortcut window, find and select MSASCui in Computer/Local Disk (C:)/Program Files/Windows Defender, and then tap OK in the pop-up small window.
Step 3: Type a new name for the shortcut if needed, and click Finish to complete creating it.
