Windows 10/11 comes with a built-in Game Bar app that allows you to quickly and easily capture your screen. However, it only records specific app screens that you choose and does not allow users to control the area being recorded. The Game Bar on Windows 10/11 is originally created for capturing scenes from one’s gameplay. To record videos using the Game Bar app on a Windows 10/11 PC, follow steps below:
Step 1: Choose One App
Open the app you want to record and keep the application window be at the front. The Xbox Game Bar will automatically identify the apps that need to be recorded. Take Notepad app as example:
Step 2: Visit the Xbox Game Bar
Press the shortcut key [win + G] to launch the Game Bar. Then, click on the Capture option in the top menu of the Game Bar.
To include any audio, you can use the microphone button located in the Capture panel on the left side of the screen.
Step 3: Start to record video on computer
Click the Record button on the Capture panel to start recording the app.
Once screen recording begins, both the Capture panel and Xbox Game Bar will minimize, and you'll only see the recording status on the right side.
You can click the blue icon to end recording. If you wish to end using your keyboard, just press [win + alt + R], an icon will appear on the right side of the screen. You can click on it to view the full list of recorded clips. Select the video in the gallery view toolbar of the Game Bar app. Then, you'll be able to click on the play button that appears on the screen.
Tips for modifying settings:
1. Press the shortcut key [Win + I] to open the [Settings] interface, and click the [Game] option in the settings interface.
2. Open "Game Bar" on this page, and you can learn or modify the shortcut keys on the keyboard to quickly record the video on computer.

If you want to change the location where the recorded video is saved, just move the "Capture" folder to the location you want to store it, and Windows will automatically find the folder and save them to this folder.
While the Xbox Game Bar is indeed built into Windows 11, most people also run PowerPoint on their computers, which also has a screen recording utility that can save recordings. With this method, you can export the video you create from slides to any folder on your PC, meaning you can play the video just like any other video file.
Step 1: Select the screen recording function
Create a new ppt or open a ppt that is already existed. On the Insert tab, find the media area and select Screen Recording.
Step 2: Choose the screen recording area
Select the appropriate area from the menu at the top of the screen. Then you can drag the cursor directly over the area you want to record. You can also use this menu to enable or disable audio recording and change the display of the cursor.
Step 3: End Recording and Save the video
When the screen recording is starting, the recording menu will be hidden, you can only press the shortcut key [win + shift + Q] to stop recording.
Then the recording video will be inserted into the slide. You can right-click on the video and select [Save Media as] to save it in a different location in the pop-up window.

The Xbox Game Bar integrated into Windows 11 is convenient to start but users can’t choose the area by themselves.
