There are some very useful built-in screenshot shortcut keys in Windows 10/11, which can easily capture full screen, freeform screenshots and so on, to meet your different needs. This post will take you through the screenshot shortcut keys in Windows 10/11 for Dell/HP/Lenovo PC to easily take screenshots.

Shortcut 1: PrintScreen

The simplest way is to press the PrintScreen key in the upper right corner of the keyboard. It can quickly capture all content on the current screen and the screenshot will be temporarily saved to the clipboard. You can paste the screenshot into some picture editing apps like Paint for editing, and then save it to the location you want.

Note: The shortcut keys for full screen screenshots are displayed with different letter on different types and brands of computers and keyboards.

For dell, hp and lenovo laptop, the shortcut key is PrtSc, but there are also some laptops that use PrtSc SysRq. For desktop computers, the shortcut key on some keyboards is PrintScreen such as Logitech, while on some other keyboards like A4tech, it’s PrintScreen/SysRq.

Shortcut 2: Win+PrintScreen

Pressing the Win+PrintScreen shortcut key combination can save all the content of the current screen as a picture to This PC ->Pictures ->Screenshots folder.

Shortcut 3: Win+W

After pressing the Win+W shortcut key, a tooltip will be displayed at the lower right corner of the desktop. You can tap Fullscreen snip to snip the entire screen.

After snipping, the Snip & Sketch window will pop up. You can edit the screenshot in it and then select a location to save the screenshot.

Shortcut 4: Win+Shift+S

Pressing Win+Shift+S shortcut key can save the content you snip to the clipboard and the Snip & Sketch window will also pop up on the right. This shortcut provides 4 different snipping ways, namely rectangular snip, freeform snip, window snip and fullscreen snip. You can choose the way you like.

Shortcut 5: Win+Alt+PrintScreen

Pressing the Win+Alt+PrintScreen shortcut key combination will capture the screen in the current active window and save it to Videos->Captures files. The screenshot is named by the combination of the window's software name or file name, snipping date and time.

Additional option: Custom your own shortcut

You can also custom the shortcut key in Settings with a few steps.

Step 1: Search snipping tool in the search box on taskbar, then tap Open file location.

Step 2: Right click Snipping Tool and choose Properties.

Step 3: Set your shortcut key in the right box of Shortcut key, then click OK.

Tips: The shortcut key will automatically include Ctrl+Alt, just press one key on the keyboard then the shortcut key combination will simultaneously show in the box.

Step 4: Click Continue.
