"I want to replace the 1 TB HDD with a 4 TB SSD in my Windows 10 64 bit computer. Is it possible to clone the original MBR disk to the new GPT disk and keep the new drive bootable? If it is, how?"
As SSD and GPT partition style have many outstanding pros(e.g. fast running speed), it's more and more common for Windows users to upgrade the old MBR disk with a larger GPT SSD. Meanwhile, instead of reinstalling the system on the SSD and manually copying the data to the disk, some users choose to directly move the content of the original disk to the new one, just like the user above. So, how to clone MBR disk to GPT disk in Windows 10? Next, we will illustrate the answer in detail for you.
To successfully clone MBR disk to GPT disk and keep the GPT disk bootable, you need to make sure that the operating system is Windows 10 64 bit and your computer support UEFI mode firstly. Then, it's time to start the disk clone with the following 6 steps.
Step 1: Connect the new disk to your Windows 10 computer and make the disk be identified in Disk Management.
Step 2: On your Windows 10 64 bit PC, install the brilliant Windows disk cloning tool - iSunshare CloneGo. With the help of such a smart tool, the MBR disk could be 100% cloned to the GPT disk and the GPT disk can be booted up without any failure.
Step 3: Run the tool and click Disk Clone function in the interface.
Step 4: For the Select a Source Disk option, choose the MBR disk. And then set the GPT disk as target in the Select a Target Disk option. Please note that the target disk(GPT disk here) will be emptied during the cloning process.
Step 5: Hit Start button and you will get a tips message immediately. To move on, just click Yes button. After that, the tool will begin cloning the MBR disk to GPT disk.
Step 6: When the clone task is finished, a pop-out will be shown to notify you.
Now, you can boot your Windows 10 64 bit computer from the GPT disk to check the cloned system. Before this, don't forget to change the boot mode of the setup program to UEFI.
