Generally, it's easy to open a USB flash drive on Mac, which can be realized by just 2 simple steps. However, when the USB flash drive that you want to open on Mac is encrypted with Windows BitLocker, the USB flash drive can't be opened directly. Therefore, how can you open a BitLocker encrypted USB flash drive on Mac? There are two ways for you to choose, one is for free and another needs to pay.
You can use the VMware to recognize the BitLocker encrypted USB and then open it. But you need to have VMware installed on your Mac as well as Windows 10 Enterprise version installed on VMware. In this way, you can run Mac and then get reach to the BitLocker encrypted USB.
Step 1: Download and install VMware Fusion on your Mac.
Step 2: Install Windows 10 in VMware Fusion.
Step 3: Launch Windows 10 on the VMware and then connect the encrypted USB to your Mac. Make sure the USB drive is connected and recognized by the VMware. After that, you can check it on your Windows 10.
Step 4: Double-click the BitLocker encrypted USB and then enter the password to open and unlock it. After that, you can copy, paste and delete files on the USB. Of course, you can transfer content between the VMware and Mac OS.
There is a much easier way to open a BitLocker encrypted USB flash drive on Mac. You can use iSunshare BitLocker Genius, which is an easy-to-use and safe tool, to open the BitLocker encrypted USB flash drive within seconds. But this tool needs to pay for usage.
Step 1: Download iSunshare BitLocker Genius and install it on your Mac by following the installation instruction.
Step 2: Insert the BitLocker encrypted USB flash drive into your Mac. And after inserting it into your Mac, a window may be popped out to remind you that the inserted disk can't be read, at that time, just click the Ignore button to close the box.
Step 3: Open iSunshare BitLocker Genius. Then choose the drive with the bitlocker mark and click the Unlock button in the upper panel of the interface.
Step 4: Choose one of the following two methods to unlock your drive after clicking the Unlock button.
Method One: By Correct Password
Enter the correct password of the BitLocker encrypted USB flash drive in the password box and then tap the Mount button to unlock the drive.
Method Two: With Recovery File
Tick the box before the Use key file option and click the Open button to add the recovery file. Then hit the Mount button to decrypt the drive.
Step 5: After the BitLocker drive is unlocked, the drive's icon will appear on your Mac desktop. Then just double-click to access it.
Step 6: When you have completed your works, you can disconnect the drive from your Mac by hitting the Eject button after choosing the unlocked drive in the interface.
