There are several ways to open Folder Options, which is the basic knowledge known by most computer users. However, plenty of users have no idea how to prevent other people from accessing Folder Options in their computers. As a result, the method to prevent users from opening Folder Options in Windows 8 is illustrated by the steps below.

Step 1: Open the Local Group Policy Editor.
Step 2: Find and enter the setting titled "Do not allow Folder Options to be opened from the Options button on the View tab of the ribbon".
As shown in the following picture, you can locate it in User Configuration/Administrative Templates/Windows Components/File Explorer.
Step 3: Select Enabled and click OK in the next window to enable the mentioned setting.
After these 3 steps, when you want to access Folder Options through the Options button in the View tab of the ribbon in File Explorer or other folders (e.g. Computer, Network…), the operation will be cancelled, as exhibited by the picture below.
Furthermore, if you would like to find Folder Options in the Control Panel, you'll discover that the item cannot be found.
