With the help of Defragment and Optimize Drives (see the following picture), you can analyze your hard drives to find out whether they need to be optimized, and optimize them to make your PC run more efficiently. In order to help you quickly open the tool, this article illustrates how to create its shortcut on Windows 10 desktop in three methods.

Way 1: Create a shortcut named Defragment and Optimize Drives on desktop.
Step 1: Right-click the blank space on desktop, tap New in the menu and choose Shortcut in the sub-menu.
Step 2: In the following window, enter %windir%\system32\dfrgui.exe in the empty box and hit Next.
Step 3: Rename the shortcut as Defragment and Optimize Drives, and tap Finish to create this shortcut.
Way 2: Send the shortcut of Defragment and Optimize Drives to desktop.
Step 1: Type administrative in the search box and open Administrative Tools from the result.
Step 2: In the tools, right-tap Defragment and Optimize Drives, click Send to in the menu and select Desktop (create shortcut) in the sub-list.
Way 3: Create a CMD document named Defragment and Optimize Drives on desktop.
Step 1: Open Notepad (or a new text document) and enter dfrgui.exe in it.
Step 2: Press Ctrl+S to save the document, make sure Desktop is selected in the Save As window, type Defragment and Optimize Drives.cmd in the name box and hit Save.
By use of these methods, 2 different shortcuts are successfully created on the desktop, as exhibited in the screen shot below.
