MS Outlook, which is widely used as the desktop email client. It manages your receiving email and outgoing emails. It uses the Outlook data file (*.pst) to store some kinds of data, such as backup of the emails, contacts, calendar, journals, and any other items on the local disk. You can only use Outlook client to open the Outlook data file (*.pst). Due to different versions of Outlook, I would show the detailed steps of creating new Outlook data file (*.pst) in different versions of Outlook respectively.
Microsoft Outlook 2007 is an old version that fewer people to use. However, there are still some people prefer to use this version. So here is how to create a new pst file in Outlook 2007.
Step 1: Launch your Outlook 2007, navigate to the File>>New>>Outlook Data file.
Step 2: In the coming New Outlook Data File dialog, you can choose the type of the new file as Office Outlook Personal Folder File, then click OK.
Step 3: When Create or Open Outlook Data File dialog appears, just give a name to the new Outlook data file and define a location to store it. Then click OK.
Step 4: Type a name for the Outlook data file folder in Create Microsoft Personal Folders dialog. If you want to password-protect your new Outlook data file, just type your password in the Password and Verify Password boxes. Then click OK.
Then the new created Outlook data file would display in the left panel of your Outlook 2007 user interface.
Step 1: Launch your Outlook and navigate to the Home>>New Items>>More Items>>Outlook Data File.
Step 2: In the coming dialog, just give a name to the newly created Outlook data file. If you want to protect the data store in this file from strangers unwanted, just set a password by check Add Optional Password and click OK.
Now the Outlook would automatically add the newly created Outlook data file (*.pst) would on the left panel of the Outlook interface. You can right-click the name of the new data file and choose New Folder to create some folders to store some specific items. Remember once you make the Outlook project more organized, the easier your management of Outlook would be.
