How to Set Your Google Chrome Homepage or Startup Page

Google Chrome is famous for speedy and stable user experience. For many users, they tend to customize their startup page and homepage themselves. This can make your Chrome with a difference. The startup page is not the same as the homepage. Startup page which is page opened when you launch your Google Chrome application. But the Home page is the page tab you can reach when clicking on the home icon at the left of the address bar. Here we will tell you how to set your Google Chrome homepage or startup page on Windows.

Note: If your Google Chrome constantly changes your startup page or home page, it may exist virus in your computer.

Part 1: Customize Homepage in Google Chrome

At the left of the address bar, you may see the home page icon. Customize home page in Google Chrome can provide you a shortcut to go back to the specified page. In this part, we will show you how to make a change through Settings.

Step 1: Open Chrome, click on three vertical ellipses at the top-right corner and select Settings from the drop-down.

Step 2: In Appearance section, go to Show home button. Switch the trigger to blue then Check the "Enter a URL" circle. Enter a website on the line.

Note: If the Show home button is gray, the home page won't show.

Part 2: Set Google Chrome As Startup page

You can tell Chrome which page you want to load when you re-open it. Here are the details.

Step 1: Click on More menu at the top-right corner, select Settings.

Step 2: Scroll down you can see "On startup" section near the bottom of the screen. You have two options to choose.

  1. Open the New Tab page. When you click on this option, you will see the Google logo, search bar and the thumbnail of the webpage you recently browsed.
  2. Continue where you left off. If you select this item, your account and password will be saved on the webpage so when you relaunch Chrome, it will be automatically logged into these websites.

Note: This will be unsafety if you use a common computer. Therefore, you can make a setting to keep local data only until you quit your browser. In Settings, expand Advanced at the bottom of the page. Click on Content settings under Privacy and security section. Tap on Cookies and switch Keep local data only until you quit your browser on.
