The failure of the screen is not as rare as we expect. As the most fragile part of a laptop, the screen may be corrupted by unintentional pressing or dropping from a desktop. When the screen is broken or corrupted, the only thing you can do is to replace the screen of the laptop with a new one.
Step 1: Unplug your laptop and remove the battery.
Attention: In case of the electricity in the laptop, it is important to disconnect its charger and remove the battery. Then, ground yourself by touching a metal object which has been grounded.
Step 2: Remove all the screws that secure the screen bezel.
Usually, the screws that secure the screen bezel are covered by some rubber cushion in each corner of the laptop. You can prize them off by using a screwdriver and then remove the screws directly.
Attention: For different brands of the laptops, some screen bezels are secured by some screws while others just snap into the lid, so you may have to adapt this instruction to fit your laptop.
Step 3: Prize the screen bezel off the screen.
Prize the bezel off the screen by using a small screwdriver. Start at one point and work your way around until it comes loose and remove it from the lid.
Step 4: Remove the existing LCD panel.
1. With the LCD panel exposed, you can remove the screws that secure the LCD panel to the lid.
2. Unplug the cable that connects to the panel, probably on the rear. Unplugging the cable may seem to be as simple as pulling it out of the socket, but you should be careful as these delicate components are easy to damage.
3. Remove the LCD panel.
Step 5: Install a new LCD panel.
1. Check your new LCD panel to make sure it matches the old LCD panel that removed from your laptop.
2. Connect the LCD panel to the cable and put the LCD panel in the lid and secure it with proper screws.
Attention: Don't touch the inverter located at the bottom of LCD panel during the whole process.
Step 6: Replace the bezel and test new LCD panel.
You can replace the bezel and then you can start your laptop to see whether the new LCD panel is working properly. If it does, congratulations, you have replaced the screen of your laptop successfully. If not, go and check whether you miss something by reading this guideline again.
