The Context Menu in Windows offers a wide variety of options that help users perform tasks quickly. However, over time, this Right-click menu can get cluttered with all sorts of options, including options from some software that you rarely use.
At this time, you may find it difficult to quickly locate the exact feature you need right away. Thus, this article provides several methods to help you easily remove unwanted items from right-click menu for a cleaner context menu.
To remove right-click options from context menu like, Edit with Clipchamp, Edit in Notepad, Edit with Paint, Edit with Photos, using the regedit:
Step 1: Press Windows + R shortcut key, type "regedit" in the run dialog and press "Enter" to open Registry Editor.
Step 2: Navigate to the following path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Shell Extensions
Step 3: Right-click on "Shell Extensions", and select New > Key, and name it as "Blocked".
Step 4: Enter into this new key, and right-click on the blank, and select New > String Value. Add following string value to remove them:

Edit in Notepad: {BFE0E2A4-C70C-4AD7-AC3D-10D1ECEBB5B4}
Edit with Paint: {2430F218-B743-4FD6-97BF-5C76541B4AE9}
Edit with Photos: {CA6CC9F1-867A-481E-951E-A28C5E4F01EA}
Step 5: Then you need to restart Windows Explorer for the changes to take effect. To do this, press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager. Find Windows Explorer in the list, right-click it, and select Restart.
Once done, the right-click menu should now be cleaned up, and the unwanted items should no longer appear.
Some third-party software, such as WinRAR, Paint, or PowerToys, often add their own options to the right-click context menu. Luckily, most of these applications allow you to control these options directly within their settings.
Step 1: Open WinRAR app. Click on Options in the menu bar and then select Settings from the dropdown.
Step 2: Go to the Integration tab. Click on Context menu items button.
Step 3: Uncheck the boxes next to the right-click menu options that you want to remove, such as Extract Here or Add to archive.
Step 4: Click OK to save the changes.
Step 1: Launch PowerToys on your PC.
Step 2: Go to the uncommonly used function you want to remove from context menu, such as File Locksmith, PowerRename, and turn it off.
Step 3: Without needing to restart the Windows Explorer, the function has already been removed. You can re-enable them when needed.
If the programs don’t provide direct options for you to remove them from Right-click Menu, you can directly uninstall them. Take Skype or OneDrive for example:
Step 1: Locate Skype in Windows start menu, right-click on it and select Uninstall. Confirm to uninstall when prompted.
Step 2: Wait the Uninstall process to complete. And now you can notice that "Share with Skype" option in right-click menu is gone.
If you prefer a more straightforward approach to customize Context Menu in Windows 11, using a dedicated context menu manager can be an excellent option. It offers an easy-to-use interface that lets you manage all the items that appear in the right-click context menu, and easily restore them within clicks.
Step 1: Download ContextMenuManager from GitHub. Open it after install it on your computer.
Step 2: In Home page, go to File/Folder/Desktop/Disk/This PC section. Simply disable unnecessary options to customize your own context menu.
Step 3: You can also limit which options are enabled for different File type.
Step 4: Now you’ve got a clean and simple Right-click Menu with basic options.
With the methods above, you can easily remove unwanted right-click options, quick locating the options you actually need and making your computer easier to use.
