Way 1: Force Restart Your iPhone

If your iPhone fails to accept your correct passcode after iOS update, there might be small glitches. You can try to force restart your iPhone and check whether it goes back to normal or not.

For iPhone 15/14/13/12/11/XS/XR/X/8/SE 2nd generation: press and release the volume up button instantly, then press and release the volume down button instantly. After that, press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears.

For iPhone 7/7 Plus: Press and hold volume down and the Sleep/Wake button together until you see the Apple logo.

For iPhone 6s and earlier: Keep holding the buttons: Sleep/Wake button and Home button until Apple logo shows up.

Way 2: Update or Restore Your iPhone in Recovery Mode

If a force restart makes no sense, you can use iTunes or Finder to update or restore your locked iPhone.

Step 1: Connect your iPhone to your computer and open iTunes (on Windows or macOS Mojave and earlier) or Finder (on macOS Catalina and later).

Step 2: Put your iPhone into recovery mode: you can follow the steps above to force restart your iPhone, but continue holding the buttons even after you see the Apple logo, until you see the recovery mode screen.

Step 3: In iTunes or Finder, you will see a message saying there is a problem with your iPhone that requires it to be updated or restored. Choose Restore to erase your device and install the latest iOS version.

Step 4: Follow the on-screen instructions to restore the locked iPhone.
