Creating and enjoying a photo slideshow on your iPhone or iPad can be a delightful way to relive memories, showcase special events, or share moments with friends and family. However, the photo slideshow in iPhone/iPad plays only once and automatically stops after displaying its last photo.
Thus, if you want it to repeat playing until you manually stop it on your device, read on to learn how to create and loop photo slideshow on your iPhone or iPad effortlessly!
Before we dive into the steps, let’s briefly discuss what a photo slideshow is. A photo slideshow is a presentation of a series of images displayed in a sequence, often accompanied by music. On iPhones and iPads, this feature is typically accessed through the Photos app, making it easy for users to create and enjoy their slideshows.
As iOS 18 has made significant changes to the Photos app, thus, the steps for creating slideshows differ slightly between iOS 17 and iOS 18. To create and repeat Photo Slideshow in iOS 17, follow these steps:
Step 1: Tap the iPhone/iPad Photos app on home screen. Once opened, you will see your photos and albums organized in various formats.
Step 2: Navigate to the Albums or Library tab to find the images for photo slideshow on iPhone.
Step 3: Tap Select in the upper right corner of the screen. You can now tap on each photo you want to include in your slideshow. If you want to select multiple photos from a particular album, go to that album and repeat the selection process.
Step 4: Once you’ve selected the desired photos, tap the three-dots option. In context menu, select Slideshow.
This will automatically create a slideshow with your selected photos and begin playing immediately. To loop slideshow in photos on iPhone/iPad, follow these steps:
Step 5: Tap on the screen when the slideshow is playing. When it brings up the slideshow controls, hit "Options".
Step 6: Find "Repeat" option there, and turn the switch to on. Tap on "Done" to return to play photo slideshow. It will auto loop play and only stop until you manually exit.
The iPhone Photos app with iOS 18 will be no more displayed by four sections, including Library, For you, Albums and Search. Instead, it arranges all sections vertically. To set image to slideshow manually in iOS 18, go on with following steps:
Step 1: Enter Library which locates on the top of the Photos App, and then tap on Select to choose pictures for slideshow.
Step 2: Click on the three dots option in the lower right corner and select "Play as Slideshow".
Step 3: It will automatically generate the slideshow and start playing. After it finishes, click the back button to replay the slideshow.
Step 4: To make Photo slideshow loop, tap the three dots in the upper right corner to open the settings.
Step 5: Select "Loop", and then tap on the slideshow screen to return to playback. At this point, the slideshow will automatically repeat until you manually stop it.
For iOS 18, the system is able to auto-create a memory for every album.
Step 1: Enter into an album, for example Recent Days album, tap on a specific date.
Step 2: Click on the large image or tap the Movie option below to enter the slideshow preview.
Step 3: Then the Memory will auto play. Click on the currently playing slide to pause it. When it finishes, you can click the back button to replay it.
Step 4: Click the three dots in the upper right corner to open the settings options, then choose "Loop Movie". Then the Memory will begin to repeat playing.
Tips: You can also select "Hide Preview" to hide the currently playing memory from the album.
